Shirts on the double

Thursday, 12th December, 2019 7:55am

It's not every day a county wins two All-Ireland senior titles in one year. To mark the upcoming 30 year anniversary of the 1990 double, when the Cork hurlers beat Galway and the footballers beat Meath in their respective finals, a commemorative shirt has been released.

The shirt release, produced by Suit Distributors, was launched this week at Páirc Uí Chaoimh with guests including 1990 captains Tomás Mulcahy and Larry Tompkins, as well as team members such as Teddy McCarthy, hurling trainer Gerald McCarthy, football manager Billy Morgan, Dr Con Murphy and Cork County Board Chairperson, Tracey Kennedy.

David O’Connor of Suits Distributors, who is the innovator behind this project, said he is delighted that the opportunity to mark this historic event has come to fruition while he also confirmed that Cork GAA underage/Rebel Óg clubs and Cork Penny Dinners will benefit directly from the sales of the commemorative merchandise.
