Butter me up

Eyeshadows can be tricky to apply and sometimes all of that blending and patting can be really time consuming.

Glitters or metallic pigments are nightmarish if, like me, your skin is mature and you have the dreaded laughter lines.

Sleek have just the product for you with their Precision Liquid Colour. They apply directly from the brush, similar to a lipgloss, however they are not tacky or hard to work with. I use my baby finger to smudge it a little.

The colour selection in these shadows is absolutely fantastic, ranging from subtle gold shades to bright emerald greens and vibrant purples. I adore the fact that you can use them under your lower lash line to add a dash of colour without worrying about it budging.

Kiss Pro launched around a year ago in Ireland and its mascara and lipsticks were a big hit for me. Wearable and heavily pigmented, they really stood up to some of the more luxe brands.

I'm not a major fan of the word 'dupe', but to me, I really felt that they worked as well, if not better, than the likes of YSL and Dior, without the massive price tag.

Now Kiss Pro is wowing me with its brow products. There's a whole range of brow products that take you from a subtle shaped brow to a defined arched goddess in one sweep. In the range, there's a texture to suit everyone.

The brow cream is a long-lasting yet creamy formula. It is a super texture for anyone that loves a nice defined brow. You can use an angled brush similar to the Powder 'n' Pout one to apply it.

The brow pencil contains a spooly brush at the other end to make the overall look more feathered and natural. The fine tip means the blendable formula gives feather light strokes to even the lightest brows. You can carve out the brow using the NYX Professional Makeup High Coverage Concealer pot.

The light shade in this is perfect for Celtic skin tones that want coverage in areas that are maybe prone to redness or pigmentation. A small amount worked into the area with your finger tip is an easy way to blend it.

I have recently become a big fan of threading. It's gentler on the eye area, particularly the upper brow, as the skin isn't pulled. I have switched to threading now for my lip and my chin area too.

Being blonde means I can't have laser, but I had a bad burning incident over the summer with some wax, in a salon I'd never tried for waxing before, so I was reluctant to get it waxed again.

Since galloping into middle age, I've found a few light downy hairs on my chin. Maintenance is a costly business so the best value I found was in the Body Shop. Three areas for €30.

My therapist Manpreet was so gentle that I experienced very little redness or tenderness in the area. She applied some gentle aloe vera gel to the area afterwards.

All in all, it was quick and I opted for a tint on my brows too. Any fair haired ladies should consider this to frame your face, especially if you're not a fan of brow products. It's like a facelift.

Whilst I was there I couldn't resist buying a body butter. The second I hear limited edition, I have to purchase. For October, there is a limited edition Vanilla Pumpkin one with a hand cream to match. They smell indulgent and are obviously up to the Body Shop's high standard.

Try that for impulse shopping!
