Pretty as a palette

Sustainable products are all the rage, refillable ones especially, because let’s face it - we all use things at a different pace.

I have been known to be heavy handed with the blusher, which is why it always runs out on any contour pallet I use. Zero fun, but I am always less heavy handed with the bronzer.

I would admit to being a makeup addict at the best of times but have tightened my belt in recent times due to the sheer volume of products in my dresser. My handbag used to weigh about a stone, but I got a little smarter in transporting and rediscovered a brand I used all the time previously, Art Deco.

The trendy Magnetic Palette (€9.75) with its innovative sliding mechanism is perfect for storing Art Deco eyeshadow, blusher, camouflage cream (the best concealer) or eyebrow powder and is particularly practical for travelling. The silky eyeshadows (€7.05 each) with their colour brilliance and durability, are gentle and soft to apply.

Six new shades have been created for spring including No. 44A Pearly Light Pistachio coats the eyes in a pale pistachio green. For expressive bold blue eyes, use No. 69A Pearl Smoky Blue and No. 84A Pearly Blue Iris.

No. 88A Pearly Soft Lilac offers a lilac-rose tone. For pale brown, apply No. 115 Pearly Pleasant Breeze. No. 570 Matte Terrazzo is a matte pink shade.

The clinically-tested blusher (€11.90) is soft and delicate to apply. It is excellently long-lasting and offers brilliant colour. For a touch of colour on the cheeks, No. 28A Holiday Flirt in dark pink and No. 33A Little Romance are what you need.

Inglot is one of the first brands I ever remember being able to buy a mixture of products from with its Freedom system. Magnetic colours for eyes, lips and cheeks pop into a sleek box that sits into your handbag and comes in a variety of sizes. With collaborations with celebrities like Jlo it has brought us some of the most pigmented colours and biggest trend focused makeup in this decade. Prices start at €6 for an eyeshadow.

Irish brand Sculpted by Aimee has a fab customisable palette for contouring, and you can replace the pans as you need them. This is super handy as the bronzer colours which you use to contour are perfect to use as a regular bronzer too.

I also find the cream base a lovely brow highlighter. You just buy the palette once for €9 and the four refills are €8 each, which is inexpensive. The colours go from light to dark, the cream bases from a light champagne to a rosy gold.

The blushes are so versatile too and you can use different ones for day or night. Just store them carefully and pop them in the palette and go!
