Denim delight

It's always a good idea to invest in a good pair of jeans, especially coming in to the spring time. This season Topshop is harking back to true, original denim with authentic washes and vintage-look fabrics.

Complementing the brand’s nine core styles, SS19 marks the launch of four new fits: the Balloon Boyfriend, the Slim Wide, the Dad and the Editor jeans.

“Selling a pair of jeans every five seconds globally, Topshop denim forms the basis of women’s wardrobes all over the world. Though the Jamie continues to take the top spot, we are excited to see our customers’ reactions to our four new fits,” said Anthony Cuthbertson, Design Director, Topshop.

“We’ve also expanded our library to include an 80s acid wash for the new season, and focused on hem detailing and ripping across multiple silhouettes. This season denim jeans no longer feel like a staple used to complete a look, instead they take centre stage.”

For the men, Topman is bringing a new aesthetic to its six core denim fits and introduces a new fit, the Wide Leg Crop, as well as rips, knee slashes, blowouts and lightweight washes.

“Our guys are loyal to their jean of choice, but over the last couple of seasons we’ve noticed a shift towards looser fits. Customers are opting for baggier, vintage styles – so we are excited see the response to our new Wide Leg Crop this season.

“For spring we’re buying heavily into ripped styles and introducing wash effects that push boundaries and encourage individual styling choices,” said Mitch Hughes, Buying Director, Topman.

Here are a few fun facts about Topshop's denims:

Over the past year Topshop has sold one pair of jeans every five seconds globally

Topshop’s global flagship store on London’s Oxford Street sells one pair of jeans every minute

Every hour Topshop sells enough jeans to reach the top of New York’s Empire State Building three times over

If you laid out, end-to-end, all the jeans Topshop sells globally each year, they would stretch from Berlin to Abu Dhabi

Topshop sells enough pairs of jeans globally to fill the Sydney Opera House every week
