Favourite thing about Cork: I’d say the chippers, and the people would be a close second.

Least favourite thing about Cork: The Kinsale Road roundabout.

One thing you’d change about Cork: The Kinsale Road roundabout.

When you were small, what did you want to be as a grown-up?

I wanted to be in Coronation Street, but as myself.

Tell us about your career progression to your role today:

I started in Cork about 13 years ago. I did a gig to around 12 people and got hooked. I then started to gig every few weeks as a ‘hobby’, secretly dreaming it could be my full time job. I have been doing it full time for eight years now and have taken six one-hour shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and appeared on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central. I also had a little part in ‘The Young Offenders’. Last year I did my biggest solo show to date in The Everyman in Cork, which I will be doing again in March with my brand new show.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of what you do?

I think the shows are the most enjoyable part of doing comedy. I love bringing stuff to life on stage and making people laugh. Especially when it is something I have had to overcome, or just turning an unfortunate event into comedy.

What motivates you?

Seeing an idea that was in my head go from the page to the stage, and making a room full of people laugh.

What advice would you give your 15-year-old self?

The Wolfe Tones are not the only band in the world.

If you weren’t in the job you have, what would you be doing?

I think I would still be an electrician.

What is your greatest life or career achievement to date?

I would say playing The Everyman with my own show. It was a surreal experience seeing my name in lights out the front. Oh, and obviously meeting my wife and becoming a dad.

Who has had the biggest influence on you in your life?

It’s has to be my family. They make me laugh so hard and I always loved making them laugh.

What is the life dream now?

A world tour. Might as well dream big!

How do you switch off?

Box sets. I love binge watching and eating at the same time.

What is your favourite Cork memory?

Bringing my son back from England for the first time.

What is your favourite place in Cork?

I love Clonakilty and Inchydoney Beach.

Do you have a favourite quote or motto?

‘Life isn’t as serious as the mind makes it out to be’ - Eckart Tolle.

When are you at your happiest?

Watching my wife make my son laugh.

Any regrets?

Almost every week, but nothing major.

What is your hidden talent?

Unfurling a fire hose really quickly.

What might we be surprised to know about you?

I cannot for the life of me grow a beard.

Anything else you’d like to share with us?

I never know if you’re supposed to use conditioner or shampoo first, and I’ve been told far too many times to ask again.
