Kinsale GAA Golf Classic

The ninth annual Kinsale GAA Golf Classic will take place at Kinsale Golf Club on Friday 26 May. The price is €180 per team of three and this includes a meal. Sponsors’ fee at the tee box or green is €50. Contact Owen Murphy 087-9810939 or Laurence Murphy 087-9056737, email

Shandon Table Quiz

A table quiz, in aid of Shandon Street Festival, will be held on Wednesday 17 May at 8pm in the Maldron Hotel, Shandon. A table of four costs €40. A raffle will be held and there will be plenty of spot prizes.

Kings Bar Reunion

A fundraiser, in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation, will take place in James Street Bar, Washington Street on Saturday 27 May from 9pm. Kings Bar was a music bar on Princes Street which rocked during the 1980s and 1990s. Tickets cost €10 and are available from Lee Travel, Princes Street or on the night.

Diabetes screening

Horgan’s Pharmacy in Bandon will host a free diabetes screening day on Friday 12 May. The screening is open to everyone, including those not diagnosed with diabetes.

Celtic Supporters Club

Established in Cork by Pat Galvin in 1988, the Glasgow Celtic FC Supporters Club in Cork organises regular trips from Leeside to games. New members welcome.

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning, in aid of Cork cancer services, will take place on Friday 26 May from 10.30am-12.30pm, in the Classic Windows showrooms in Killumney. This is in conjunction with the 96FM Radiothon.


Summer Fete

Carrigaline Summer Fete takes place in St Mary’s National School, Waterpark, Carrigaline on Saturday 27 May 10am–2pm in aid of parish funds.


Library events

On Thursday 18 May, at 11am, in Carrigaline Library, there is a gramophone recital music event by Tom Liston.

On Thursday 25 May, at 11am, Bryan Riney will present a talk on bees and beekeeping. The same day at 2.30pm sees an evening of music, song, and dance hosted by Carrigaline Active Retired Group.


MindFreedom demo

MindFreedom, the psychiatric survivor group, will mark 10 years of protest against the procedure of electroshock with a public demonstration in Bishop Lucey Park, on Saturday 13 May at 2pm.


Tidy Towns

Carrigaline Tidy Towns is looking for volunteers. If you can help, call to HQ in the Owenabue Car Park on Tuesday or Wednesday at 7pm, or Saturdays at 11am. You can also contact Chairman Liam O’Connor at 087-7817857.
