Cork Operatic Society presents Stephen Sondheim's 'Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' at the Everyman Palace Theatre, from Thursday 5 August to Sunday 8 August.
Surely one of the most darkly funny musicals ever performed, and as the winner of eight Tony awards, it's considered to be Sondheim's masterwork.

Gig of the week:
Moon Duo @ the Crane Lane Theatre on Saturday 24 July at 9pm
This duo comprises one half of Wooden Shjips who played a storming set in the same venue a few months ago. Moon Duo promise to play similar drone influenced kraut–rock but played in totally different ways which should ensure an interesting experience. This gig is another freebie put on by the always interesting Bandicoot promotions.

John Daly is one of these and he spoke to the Cork Independent about his musical background, why he still loves playing in Cork and the inspiration that Sir Henrys provided for him.

It seems unnecessary to explain who comedy trio Apres Match are, given their ubiquity throughout the World Cup on RTE.
Their usual surreal and satirical take on football punditry and other subjects was one of the most watchable aspects of a largely forgettable World Cups.

The classic farce 'Move Over Mrs Markham' is Haulbowline Theatre Group's next production and will open in the unique naval base theatre this summer from Thursday 15 July. The play is set in a very elegant top floor London flat, belonging to Philip and Joanna Markham. Philip is a straight-laced publisher of children's books, and he shares an office with his partner, Henry Lodge, on the ground floor.

From this Friday there will be a new clubbing experience in Cork at The Everyman Palace Theatre. The venue is launching two new club nights this weekend on Friday and Saturday night called 'The Palace Late Night Club'. After many years of 'Kickback' running at the Everyman Palace Theatre, Mick D'Arcy and his team are bidding a farewell to its Friday night residency.

Uber- successful Limerick pop-rock trio We Should Be Dead are returning to Leeside with a new album after moving to LA to record their album. 'Dreamstate' follows up their incredibly successful surprise international debut hit album 'Forget Romance Let's Dance'. First single 'Up All Night' is a characteristically hook laden synth slice of indie pop, full of lead vocalist Anna Nix's charismatic singing style.
