Council to vote on Dromahane works

A range of public realm works are on the cards for Dromahane.

The proposed developments in Dromahane includes park upgrades, replacement of existing footpaths, provision of new footpaths, provision of controlled and uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, public lighting upgrade works and related accommodation works.

The project aims is to increase the safety of the vulnerable users within the speed limits of the village, which will be accomplished by a mixture of traffic calming within the centre of the village and the provision of both controlled and uncontrolled pedestrian crossings.

Vehicular speeds on approaches to the main street will also be controlled with a combination of new and wider footpaths and concrete build outs combined with speed ramps/raised table.

Plans for the Village Improvement Scheme along the R619 in Dromahane have been welcomed by North Cork Fine Gael Cllr John Paul O’Shea.

Such developments by Cork County Council are subject to the Part 8 planning process, which consists of a public consultation process.

Any submissions received by the council are considered in the Part 8 Manager’s Report which is prepared and presented to councillors for adoption.

Cllr O’Shea said plans of the proposed development are available for inspection until 17 May and may be inspected during public opening hours at the Cork County Council office in Annabella, Mallow.

Submissions and observations, which should be made on or before 31 May, can be made in writing to the Senior Engineer, Cork County Council, Regional & Local Roads Design Office, Innishmore, Ballincollig, or in email to part8.rlrdo@corkcoco.ie.

Plans are also available for inspection and to print at corkcoco.ie.
