Nasc move to new premises

A centre which works for the rights of migrants and refugees official opened their new office recently.

To coincide with the formal opening of the new premises at Paul Street, Nasc will also be launching a new website, logo and three-year strategic plan.

Nasc received funding through the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Funds and from Ireland Funds to develop a more accessible and mobile friendly website.

Fiona Finn, CEO of Nasc said: “We are very excited to be launching a new website. It has been several years in the development at this stage and is long overdue.

“We are very grateful to Bishop of Cork and Ross John Buckley for giving us this space last autumn. We are delighted to be so centrally located, it makes it much more convenient for people who are coming into us.”

The new website will offer mobile and tablet friendly information about various immigration and asylum related issues, and importantly, will also offer self-advocacy tools like template letters and how to guides to support people in things like citizenship or visa applications.

She added: “It was important to us that we make the site more accessible and user friendly. Of course, the core of our work remains the face to face legal advocacy service, where people come to us in person for support in navigating our complex immigration and protection systems. But our work must reflect the needs of our service users – migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and ethnic minorities living in Ireland.

“We are also launching a new logo, which we think is more reflective of our name – Nasc, the Irish word for ‘link’ – and our ethos, that we link migrants and refugees with their rights,” Ms Finn said.
