City legends take on Ringmahon for Zac Higgins

A number of Cork City legends have been confirmed for a fundraising match on Sunday.
Colin Healy, Joe Gamble, Neal Horgan, Dan Murray, Billy Woods and many more will roll back the years on Sunday as Cork City FC and Ringmahon Rangers line out to raise money for toddler Zac Higgins.
The Cork City and Ringmahon legends will take to the pitch for the second half of the game with current players facing each other in the first half.

The much anticipated game will take place at 12pm on 12 May at Ringmahon Park.

There will be no set entry fee on the day, with attendees asked to donate as much as they can at the door. All proceeds will go to the Zac Higgins fund.

Cork City FC Commercial Manager Paul Deasy, who himself is a Ringmahon Rangers player, told the Cork Independent that the club was eager to help out in any way it could and that the team would field a strong team on the day.

“It’s something that has hit the community hard and everyone wants to do their bit to support the family,” said Mr Deasy.

There will also be face painters and RedFM Red Patrollers there on the day.

Zac was the victim of a hit and run at Castle Meadows off Skehard Road on 25 March which left him seriously injured. He has since been diagnosed with a diffuse axonal brain injury.

Zac’s father Paul Higgins is currently the treasurer for Ringmahon Rangers. He has also manned ticket stiles at Turner’s Cross for a number of years and is well known to the staff and players at Cork City FC.
