Yoga on the Boardwalk will take place every Sunday at 11am.

Sunday salutations

Local yoga teachers are preparing to launch a summer long schedule of classes in aid of charitable causes.

Located beside Earth Café on South Mall, Yoga on the Boardwalk is a collective of friends who all share the same passion and love of yoga. Participants will be treated to various styles of yoga each Sunday morning from local Cork teachers, all in aid of various charities.

This is the second year of Yoga on the Boardwalk, with last year's pilot programme raising almost €2,000 for charities including Cork DAWG, Cork Penny Dinners and The Hope Foundation.

Organisers have high hopes of exceeding that number this year.

Yoga teacher Audrey Ellard Walsh said: “We are so excited to welcome new and seasoned yogis to join us on the boardwalk this summer. Practicing yoga is a beautiful way to start the day, and with the opportunity to support deserving causes while doing so, it's a win-win for everyone involved!”

“After last year’s success, I’m excited to watch this little Sunday morning community grow,” added teacher Kitty Sheehan.

Classes take place at 11am on Sunday mornings, with the first class of the year taking place on Sunday 12 May, in aid of Edel House. Suggested donation of €5 per person.

Participants must bring their own mats, with sunglasses, sunscreen and water recommended.

Classes are weather dependent, so keep an eye on social media for weekly confirmation and details of each week's chosen charity and teacher.
