Acre of help on the way

A Cork office will be swapping their desks for the outdoors this weekend as they set out to transform an acre into a horticultural hub.

Voxpro will hold its first ever Days of Giving, with more than 350 employees coming together to help out a local charity.

This volunteer event, in partnership with Down Syndrome Cork, will see employees volunteering their time to significantly expand Down Syndrome Cork’s Field of Dreams - a training space for adults with Down Syndrome, all in just one day on 18 May.

Team members from both Cork and Dublin will work together to transform one unused acre of Field of Dreams’ site into a horticultural hub, by installing and fitting out a polytunnel unit, building new training rooms and planting a commercial growing space.

Ray O’Callaghan, Chairperson, Down Syndrome Cork said: “Currently, 95 per cent of adults in Ireland with Down Syndrome are unemployed, as supports and services for the community tend to drop off at 21. The aim of Field of Dreams is to help members of the Down Syndrome community find a meaningful, rewarding role, which enables them to live with independence over the longer term. We are very excited about this project and grateful to the entire TELUS International team who are committed to helping our community in a truly meaningful way and building a brighter future for so many.”
