When choosing wedding favours, food is the way to go. Try cake pops for a quirky treat that your guests definitely won't leave behind.

Do yourself a favour...

Traditionally consisting of pouches of sugared almonds, wedding favours are a lovely way to show appreciation for your guests. These little trinkets can be anything from matchboxes to jewellery and everything in between. We’ve come up with some suggestions for the best wedding favours that won’t get left behind:

• Food and drink - When in doubt, cook it out. Try cookie mix jars or cake pops, jars of jam or spices or even mini bottles of your favourite tipple. Going the DIY route would be a good way of getting the family involved too

• Place cards - Make your wedding favours do double duty as place markers to save money. Get creative with personalised badges that work well as a conversation starter, bingo cards or even a simple thank you card

• Go green - Wedding favours can create a lot of waste. Present your guests with potted plants, paper packets of seeds or even flowers from your centrepieces. If your guests do leave them behind, they can still be used instead of being thrown away

• Experiences - Instead of buying hundreds of individual gifts, provide something that everyone can enjoy such as a photo booth, caricature artist, candy buffet, ice cream truck, late night food or pay the band or DJ to play longer

• Charity - Consider donating your wedding favour budget to charity on behalf of your guests. Many charities can even provide you with cards to inform your guests of your donation
