Time for tee with Cope

The Cope Foundation is getting ready to swing into action later this month for its annual golfing fundraiser.

In its 23rd year, the annual Golf Classic raises funds for people with intellectual disabilities and autism and their families. Last year’s Golf Classic raised over €40,000, bringing the total funds raised to date to over €1.6 million. This year's tournament, which will feature 60 teams, takes place at Douglas Golf Club from 13-14 June. This year golfers are in with a chance of winning a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in the Hole in One Competition, sponsored by Dan Seaman Motors.

Cope Foundation Chief Executive, Sean Abbott said: “The annual Golf Classic continues to be one of the highlights of our fundraising year, and couldn’t be accomplished without our friends, donors and fundraisers.

“The funds raised last year by our Golf Classic allowed us to develop and augment services and supports for the older people we support. The funds raised from this year’s Golf Classic will go towards an independent living facility. This facility will offer people the chance to experience and learn the skills needed to make their ambition of living independently a reality. Your support at this year’s Golf Classic will help us raise funds to purchase this facility.”

The event is sponsored by O’Flynn Exhams Solicitors and there will be three tee-off times at 2.30pm on 13 June and 9.30am and 2.30pm on 14 June. The cost for a team of four is €1,000, and all funds will go directly to Cope Foundation. To book call 021-464 3323 or visit cope-foundation.ie/Golf-Classic.
