Fota Island Resort follow through with 28 acre sale for 88 homes

A rare residential development with planning permission for 88 houses has come onto the market at the Fota Island Resort.

The property forms part of the 550 acre Fota Island Resort situated on the eastern side of Cork Harbour about 15km east of Cork city. The land that's for sale comprises 28 acres in two main paddocks to the south of the main entrance into Fota Island Resort.

This includes 44 two-storey lodges to be used for short-term holiday lettings only and 44 two-storey four and five bedroom lodges on large sites in a low density parkland development.

According to the selling agent, Lisney, the property represents a unique ready to go residential development opportunity as planning contributions are already paid and all main services are available.

A Lisney spokesman said: “The proposed residential development of large detached houses will cater for the higher value executive market and it would be a first for Cork although similar developments have been completed in other locations in Ireland like the Carton House and The K-Club in Kildare and Druids Glen, Wicklow.

“This higher value executive market is not currently being catered for in terms of new homes developments and the close proximity of the many amenities within Fota Island Resort will be a big selling point for house hunters.”
