High five for Minane Bridge

A tiny community with a big appetite for the arts, Minane Bridge will today open its fifth annual Tracton Music and Arts Festival.

Running right through the weekend, the festival will feature a selection of musical performances ranging from folk to classical, an art exhibition and a film screening.

It will also feature a number of presentations on portrait painting, photography and song writing.

Officially opening the festival will be well-known musician Liam O’Maonlai of the Hothouse Flowers who will play a concert at the Inkwell Theatre at 8.30pm this evening.

Speaking during the build up to the festival, local artist and one of the organisers, Victor Richardson, said: “As always, our festival is an eclectic collection of performances, exhibitions and events so there is something for everyone, all fuelled by artisan food.

“In all, there are over 30 fun events running over the four days, with a special emphasis on Sunday as a family day, coinciding with the monthly community market.”

This year’s musical performances and concerts at the Inkwell Theatre in Minane Bridge include Liam O’Maonlai, Kila, Luka Bloom and The Danu Quartet.

The festival runs from 4-7 July and full details of events and prices are available at theinkwelltheatre.org.
