Transport office wanted

A call has gone out from Cork city councillors urging the National Transport Authority to have a base on Leeside.

It comes after a motion was passed at a meeting of Cork City Council on Monday asking the National Transport Authority set up an office in Cork.

Independent Cllr Paudie Dineen proposed the motion which called for the National Transport Authority to establish an office in Cork.

This office would have the specific remit of furthering the development of an integrated public and sustainable transport network.

Cllr Paudie Dineen was of the opinion that this office would contribute to environmental sustainability, social cohesion and economic progress in metropolitan Cork and other urban areas outside of Dublin.
