Cllr John Paul O'Shea has welcomed refurbishment works for the Charleville playground.

All play for Charleville children

To the joy of Charleville’s children, the town’s playground has reopened this week following extensive renovation works.

The upgrade includes refurbishment of the existing playground as well as new play equipment, new surfacing, enhanced accessibility, sensory equipment, seating and perimeter fencing.

The works cost €130,000 which was funded by Cork County Council along with a €100,000 grant under the Government's Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2018. In addition, walking access from the town car park to the playground is also scheduled to be developed.

North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed the reopening of Charleville playground. “I have seen the completed works and it is a fantastic job. Cork County Council has put a focus on playgrounds across the communities, knowing the importance of communal features and their role in recreation and socialisation. Charleville now has a first-rate playground that I know will be utilised by the community in the town and wider areas.”

The works were carried out by Browne Brothers Site Services Ltd.

On top of the completed works in the playground, Cork County Council is also advancing improvement plans to the town park which would include new walking paths, significant landscaping, public lighting, a featured grass mound area for children as well as an enhanced pedestrian access to the park.
