Not so inno-cent in North Cork

It's like something you would see in a film...literally!

There’s very good counterfeit money and then there’s these movie props.

Some not so inno-cent people had the cheek to pass these off as real currency in North Cork this week but the penny has dropped now and businesses are on alert.

Gardaí are banking on the business community taking account of these fake bills in Mitchelstown ahead of Indie19 this weekend.

In a social media post from An Garda Síochána, it said: “Gardaí in Mitchelstown are warning the business community to be on alert for fake bank notes. These prop notes were passed in town today. Unusually, they're in varying denominations.

“These €10 and €20 notes are marked ‘Movie Money’ but easy to miss. Be on alert and check notes, especially with a busy weekend approaching.”
