Ralph needs your votes to win this year's Nose of Tralee. He swears this isn't his pint!

You mutt vote for Ralph

Ralph has tails wagging as voting fur this year’s Nose of Tralee is heating up.

It’s hoped that Cork’s top dog Ralph, owned by Chloe Smith, will take the lead in this year’s competition, with voting still open until 27 August.

Ralph was too busy with the pup-arazzi to have a chin wag with the Cork Independent but we hounded down his owner instead.

Chloe, from Carrigaline, entered the six month old miniature schnauzer into the competition, run by Pet Sitters, earlier this summer. In her entry she said that Ralph already believes he’s royalty so the title of the Nose of Tralee would be very suitable.

The Nose of Tralee is open to cats, dogs, horses, hamsters and birds.

Chloe told the newspaper: “I entered Ralph in the first place for a laugh but now that he’s one of the finalists, I’m really excited about it. I know all owners are biased about their own pets but Ralph is very cute and that’s why I entered him. There’s just a week left to vote so I’m trying to get everyone to vote for Ralph.”

When Ralph isn’t heading for strolls along the Crosshaven Walkway, he’s splashing about in the water. There’s a little rebel in the Cork dog, too, with him being known to eat the insoles out of shoes!
