July for Škoda? Superb

Automotive manufacturer Škoda enjoyed the best July in the company’s history as global sales saw a significant increase.

Over the course of the month, the company delivered 102,700 vehicles worldwide. The Western European market saw a 12.3 per cent increase in sales, delivering 45,600 vehicles, 5,000 more than the same period last year.

Sales and Marketing board member Alain Favey said: “For the first time in our history, we have delivered more than 100,000 vehicles in July. We are delighted with the high demand for our SUV models Kodiaq and Karoq. This underlines the fact that we have hit the mark with our SUV campaign.”

Among the popularity of Škoda’s recent SUV models, the Octavia remains their most popular model by a huge margin. The flagship model is known for its reliability, and for retaining a respectable resale value.

In recent years the brand has seen steady growth worldwide, particularly in Western Europe. Škoda sales in emerging European sectors saw the Netherlands increase sales by 57.7 per cent, and Sweden by a whopping 84 per cent. Škoda have been the sixth highest selling car brand in Ireland over the past four years, and have an eye firmly on a fifth place position in 2019.

Mr Favey continued: “In the coming months, we expect further growth stimulus from our new city SUV Škoda Kamiq, in particular. The attractive new models Škoda Scala Monte Carlo and Kamiq Monte Carlo, which we will be showing for the first time at the IAA 2019, will also give our brand additional momentum.”
