Bridging the gap in ‘I am Fragile'.

Ocean Film Festival World Tour sets course for Cork!

By Eve Harrington

The Ocean Film Festival World Tour is setting sail for Ireland this autumn, bringing two nights of mesmerizing ocean-themed films to Ireland, including the Everyman in September.

Visiting more than 35 locations, from wild Arctic waters to Mexico’s spectacular sinkholes, the event involves a selection of short films telling seafaring stories from both above and below the water’s surface that will take audiences on a journey to some of the least-explored depths of the planet.

The Ocean Film Festival World Tour originated in Australia, with the aim of inspiring people to explore, respect, enjoy and protect the oceans. This is the sixth year that it has toured the UK and Ireland, providing people with the chance to dip their toes into the wonders of the big blue sea by sitting back and listening to curious tales from fascinating characters who have dedicated their lives to the sea’s salt spray and its inhabitants.

Film highlights include:

• ‘Emocean (Tour Edit)’ – a love letter to the ocean from surfers, fishermen, marine scientists and people sharing tales of adventure, adrenaline, inspiration, love, loss and their relationship with the ocean.

• ‘I am Fragile’ – a stunning short film showcasing the spectacular yet fragile landscapes and wildlife of the remote Arctic.

• ‘A Peace Within’ – following extreme painter Philip Gray as he ventures underwater to paint Mexico’s astounding clear-water pools, believed by the ancient Mayans as gateways to the afterlife.

There will also be a free prize giveaway to win some ocean-related goodies.

It will take place at the National Concert Hall, Dublin on 10 September and The Everyman on 11 September to witness mind-blowing marine life, wild adventures and stunning cinematography.
