Cannonball fired up and aiming for Ballymaloe

Ballymaloe is gearing up for an exciting afternoon as it welcomes nearly 200 supercars into the East Cork area.

Cannonball, the action-packed supercar spectacle, has just set off from Dublin this morning and will arrive in Ballymaloe at about 2pm today with proceeds to the Irish Cancer Society. The charity funds lifesaving cancer research and a range of free support services for people affected by cancer.

Over 200,000 people will line streets all over Ireland for Cannonball and the event has already raised €1,016,000 for Irish charities.

Car brands involved include McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Maserati, Rolls Royce and Bentley, which will blaze a trail across the country. It is the largest organised road trip in Europe.

Cannonball will blaze a trail through Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, Meath and Offaly ending on Sunday.

It has also just been announced that 'Love Island' star Tom Walker and 'Coronation Street' star Ryan Thomas will be joining the convoy.

Fans will meet the drivers and celebrities and get up close and personal with some of the world’s top cars. The benefit to the Irish economy and host towns of this event is estimated at €2,567,000 per year.

There will also be people dressed up in costumes including a frighteningly realistic President Trump and a very attractive Pope, cardinal and Popemobile. Not to mention costumes from Spiderman to Star Wars, Cat Woman to Wonder Woman, cheerleaders to Charlie’s Angels, Batman, The Joker and more!
