Douglas open night

Douglas Community School will hold an open night tonight welcoming new students and their parents.  and will include an address from the principle.

Offering first class facilities, Douglas Community School (DCS) has one of the widest choices of subjects in any school in the country.

DCS also provides for the recreational and educational needs of over 2,000 adults each year through the Adult and Community Education programme. The school has also introduced Open University degree programmes and National College of Ireland and UCC Diplomas to adults in the Munster region.

DCS students have enjoyed recent success with fifth year student Michael O’Mahony captaining the under 16 basketball team at the summer’s European Championships. Other achievements saw transition year students Eoghan Nash on the starting squad for the recent Cork minor All-Ireland win, and Oran Crowe selected for the Ireland under 17 squad for their upcoming game against Russia, in Spain.

Not limited to current alumni, past pupils also enjoyed recent success; Ronan Byrne recently won a silver medal at the World Rowing Championships, and qualified for next year’s Tokyo Olympics while past pupil and Cambridge graduate Alexey Pokrovskiy was awarded the European Price in Combinatorics at Eurcomb 2019.

The open night will take place tonight, Thursday 12 September, from 6.30-9pm. The principal’s address will take place at 8pm.
