Two arrested over 2015 Bweeng murder

Gardaí have arrested two men in their 20s in connection with the murder of Peter Murphy in Cork in 2015. The arrests were made yesterday as part of an operation by Mallow gardaí with both men detained at Mallow Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Mr Murphy’s body was found outside a rented property at Shanavoher, Bweeng, on 7 February 2015. A post mortem carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster concluded that the 36 year old's death was a result of an prolonged assault. He was last seen alive at his home on 5 February 2015.

Yesterday, Superintendent William Duane said: “Gardaí continue to investigate the murder of Peter Murphy at his home in Shanavoher. We would like to thank the members of the community for their assistance but we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
