Three in court for Charleville burglary

Three men are due to appear before Cork City District Court this morning charged in connection with a burglary on the house of an elderly couple in Charleville on Saturday.

The men were arrested by gardaí following an intelligence lead operation into a burglary incident which took place at approximately 5.30pm at a house in the Freemount area of Charleville on Saturday evening.

It is understood that two of the men forced entry into the house while the third man remained in a nearby getaway car.

Gardaí from the Mallow District, assisted by members of the Armed Support Unit, arrested the two men, aged in their 50s and 60s, at the house.

The third man, aged in his 30s, was arrested shortly afterwards having fled the scene in the car.

The men aged in their 50s and 60s were detained at the Bridewell Garda Station while the man in his 30s was detained at Mallow Garda Station. All were detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

No injuries were sustained in the incident and investigations are ongoing.
