Cannabis haul in Skibb

A man in his 40s was arrested in connection with a drugs haul in West Cork this week.

Gardaí arrested the man and seized thousands of euro worth of cannabis in Skibbereen, which will be sent for testing.

Shortly after 2.30pm on Monday, gardaí from the West Cork Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant at a house in Skibbereen. During the course of the search, gardaí seized €13,600 worth of suspected cannabis herb and €860 worth of suspected cannabis resin.

A spokesman for An Garda Síochána said: “The man was arrested at the scene and brought to Bandon Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and has since been released.”

A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
