Prepare to live like ‘Common People’ as Voodoo has launched its new '80s and '90s music themed bar.
Popscene, Cork’s only themed bar dedicated to celebrating the best of the '80s and '90s, promises an unforgettable party in tribute to two iconic music eras.
“Popscene evolved from the popular monthly night Now That’s What I Call Voodoo,” said Popscene’s Director, Stephen Forde Jnr.
“We could see how popular that event was and decided to take a chance on creating a more permanent celebration of two iconic decades,” he explained.
Located at Voodoo Rooms complex in the city centre, guests can relive their glory days and dance like it’s 1999, because Popscene promises to bring the party, every Friday and Saturday night from 8pm.
Themed décor welcomes visitors back to the heyday of their youth while keeping things classy.
Giant Rubik’s Cubes double up as tables, red leather and pink neon trims add the lux factor. Fun photo booths ensure visitors can perfectly capture their nostalgia fest.
Private karaoke booths allow you to belt out your favourite power ballad, while the black and a white dancefloor is the perfect spot to break out some vintage moves.
The new venue launches tomorrow 29 November at the Voodoo Rooms complex, Oliver Plunkett Street.
The interior and design is brand new, fresh, and full of bright colours and funky designs. Popscene tries to replicate what you might find in a bar or night club 20 or 30 years ago.
The launch of Popscene has created 20 new full and part time jobs and represents a six-figure sum investment.
Popscene’s General Manager, Wesley O’Regan said: “Whether your jam is ‘Temptation’ from Heaven 17 or Robbie Williams’ ‘Angels’, you’ll feel right at home here at Popscene. While this is very much a themed bar, we’ve side-stepped the cheese-factor with tasteful décor, and an upscale drinks list and party food menu.”
Open every Friday and Saturday from 8pm ‘til late, Popscene is taking group bookings.
