Cars spar in The Glen

A series of videos have emerged showing two cars repeatedly smashing into each other in a Cork neighbourhood.

The videos show pedestrians in the Glen looking on in disbelief as the showdown escalated from a nose-to-nose standoff to an all-out bumper brawl.

The highly unusual clips emerged on social media yesterday and quickly spread. As of yet, there is no garda investigation into the incident.

The first video begins with the two silver cars facing each other, with the larger car pushing the other car backwards up a narrow road. White smoke can be seen coming from the larger car as it pushes against the front bumper of the smaller vehicle.

A showdown ensues where both vehicles take turns reversing and charging at the other with a considerable amount of damage being done to both vehicles. A broken bumper is visible on the road.

The second video shows the two cars circling each other in an open space surrounded by bollards, again taking turns smashing into each other before both vehicles speed off in opposite directions leaving debris in their wake.

It has been reported that the incident took place at the junction of Arderin Way, close to St Brendan’s Church in the Glen.

One bystander can be heard saying: “He’s going to go again. She’s going for him. He’s going to hit her again. God bless us! Where do ye think ye are?”

The identity of the people in the cars in unknown, with onlookers appearing to refer to them as a man and a woman.
