12 of the best

The 2020 Cork County Council Library Calendar, featuring 12 original artworks from talented children across the County, was officially launched recently.

The calendar was launched by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Christopher O’Sullivan, at the LHQ Gallery in County Library Headquarters.

In October the County Library and Arts service held an art competition on the theme of I Love My Library. Children under the age of 12 were invited to submit a picture and the libraries were inundated with hundreds of entries. Twelve winners were chosen to feature their artwork on a month of the calendar.

The winners are Síofra Gormley (6), Mia Walsh (11), Kate Howie (12), Summer O’Donovan (6 ), Emily O’Leary (9), Fiona Geary (12), Ruby Ní Charthaigh (6), Clíona O’Connell (9), Lucy Murphy (9), Charlie Cahill (5), Daniel Whelton (9) and Caoimhe Flannery (12).

Mayor O’Sullivan congratulated all the winners and entrants on the high standard of work submitted to the competition

Judging of the competition was carried out by the Arts Office of Cork County Council and printing costs for the unique calendar was supported by the Creative Ireland Fund.
