Cannabis haul in Mallow

A man arrested in relation to a drugs seizure in North Cork has been released without charge.

Gardaí arrested the man in his late 40s when they seized approximately €20,000 of suspected cannabis herb at a checkpoint in Mallow recently.

Shortly after 11pm on 3 January, members of the Mallow District Drugs Unit, the Detective Unit and uniformed gardaí carried out a checkpoint in Quartertown Upper outside Mallow.

A garda spokesperson said: “During the checkpoint, a car that had travelled from Limerick was stopped and searched by gardaí. A bag containing suspected cannabis herb worth approximately €20,000 was seized.”

The man was brought to Mallow Garda Station where he later released without charge. Gardaí have also confirmed that a file will now be prepared for the DPP.
