Designers to review CBL site

The designers of the Choice Based Lettings website will be asked to review the site to see what improvements can be made.

It comes after some people had complaints about the online system - specifically that it’s too easy to log out without going through the whole process.

Choice Based Lettings is used by many local authorities across the country including Cork City Council.

Those on the social housing waiting list can express an interest in renting a suitable property in their preferred area.

Cllr Henry Cremin, with the Sinn Féin party, asked that Cork City Council’s housing department review the Choice Based Lettings process.

He said: “Reasons for this is that applicants are bidding on properties but they are not going through the whole process.

He added: “This is because when they put the property in the basket they then assume that it’s logged and sign out.”

The report from the Director of Housing in City Hall Brian Geaney advised that similar to the procedure for online shopping, users of the Choice Based Lettings system should proceed to checkout to complete the bidding process.

He said: “Our housing department will check with the designers of the Choice Based Lettings system as to whether it would be possible to warn users when they have not completed the process.

“If so, such an upgrade will be actioned,” added Mr Geaney.

He confirmed: “We will ask the designers to look at the system and see what improvements can be made.”

Meanwhile a tutorial on how to use the Choice Based Lettings system is also available for people to view.
