Bandstand beyond repair

Repairing a damaged and burnt bandstand in a park on the southside of the city will be costed in the coming weeks, a City Hall official has confirmed.

The bandstand at Tory Top Park has been vandalised on many occasions with Green Party Cllr Dan Boyle recently asking management at Cork City Council about plans to repair it.

An official at City Hall said that the bandstand was extensively damaged by vandals and set alight on a number of occasions.

The official added: “The entire roof and sections of the floor are beyond repair. An application for finance to engage consultants to survey and estimate the works required to reinstate the bandstand and, provide an estimate of the cost involved will be made in the coming weeks. The required works and cost of same will then be considered in light of available resources.”
