The Clio drives up sales charts, as Renault preps new Koleos too.

New Renault Clio is Ireland’s fave small car

The recently launched all-new Renault Clio has stormed in as Ireland’s favourite small car in January, taking first place on the podium in the critical first month of the busy 201 registration period. The fifth-generation model is in fifth place in the overall new passenger car market for January and is the best-selling petrol car in Ireland.

Renault Group finished the month with a fantastic 9.7 per cent share, nearly one in ten customers choosing a Renault Group vehicle.

Renault continues its Renault Carbon Rewards 201 offer for February with €3,500 savings guaranteed for customers who choose a cleaner, lower emissions car. With this offer, customers are guaranteed savings of €3,500 on new cars with € 1,000 carbon cashback and 2.01 per cent APR (saving customers €2,500 on interest payments compared to high street banks).

Patrick Magee, Country Operations Director, Renault Ireland: “We are thrilled that Renault’s all-new Clio has stormed in at number one in its class and fifth place in the overall best-sellers list for January. Whether customers fell for the powerful and efficient TCe100 petrol engine, the premium finish of the new interior, or the state of the art EasyLink multimedia and navigation system, the all-new Clio has grabbed the attention of Irish car buyers and has helped the Renault Group to a strong 9.7 per cent market share in the busy first month of the year.

“With the recent arrival of the all-new Captur and new Zoe electric car arriving in March we hope to continue this success as we move further into 2020.”

Renault has also announced pricing and specifications for new Koleos, the second phase of its flagship model, which is available now at Renault’s 27 Irish dealerships from €40,990 RRP.

The Koleos retains the unmistakable space, comfort, styling, and long-distance refinement of the phase one model, first launched here in summer 2017, while offering customers a reduced purchase price and more luxurious equipment than ever before. The new Koleos features a number of changes to its exterior styling. A new front bumper and full-length lateral satin chrome elements emphasise the width of the car, while new chrome trims on the sides and new rear bumper give a cleaner look. The bigger changes are under the skin, in the form of two new engines. 2WD versions gain a new, 1.7 dCi 150 engine while the new 2.0 dCi 190 engine in 4WD versions offers a higher power output than its predecessor.

Meanwhile, both engines enjoy a significant improvement in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption compared to the outgoing dCi 175 version, and owners benefit from a reduction in motor tax from €570 to €390. As before, all versions of Koleos come with the smooth, refined CVT automatic gearbox as standard.

The already generous equipment levels have been improved on the new Koleos with two trims – Iconic and GT Line. Iconic gains some of Renault’s Easy Life features in the form of hands-free parking, two-stage reclining rear seats and full LED headlights. Iconic versions also offer 7” touch screen with navigation, rear parking cameras, and blind spot and lane departure warning. GT Line versions enjoy additions of an 8.7 inch touch screen and 19 inch two-tone alloys.

The new Koleos is available now from €40,990 with a 201 offer of €3,500 guaranteed savings with finance from Renault Bank.
