Music for minds

There will be serious talent at the Music For Minds event this St Patrick’s Day weekend!

Happening on 15 March at 2pm in the Cork School of Music, the fundraiser is hoping to raise vital funds for Cork Counselling Services. The charity has provided discrete and professional mental health support to the people of Cork since 1982.

The event promises to have a stage crammed with some of the best young talent in the city performing an afternoon showcase of classical, traditional, pop, opera and jazz. The concert will be a central part of the St Patrick's Day weekend entertainment in the city, with tickets available on Eventbrite and at the door.

Some of the talent includes Orlaith Horan, Michael Krauss and Peter O’Reilly, Fenix Jazz Collective, Guitar Plus Guitar, Sarah Ryan, Aoife Blake and Muireann Ní Shé, Nuadán with MacDara Ó Faoláin and Company, Rebecca Archer and the Café Flute Group (with Robbie Pender conducting), well known singers Guys & Dolls, Georgina Cassidy and Éabha McCarthy, and CIT Music Society and musical theatre groups.

Refreshments will be included in the ticket price of €20 and there will be a short interview with Dan O’Mahony of Da Silly Heads who works to put a face on mental health.

Da Silly Heads is a social enterprise project which aims to empower people to feel unashamed of their relationship with mental illness and supporting the fight against mental health stigma.

Cork Counselling Services provide therapy to the people of Cork regardless of financial means, religious beliefs, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or educational background.
