Two arrested for criminal damage

Gardaí have arrested a juvenile and a man in his 20s following a criminal damage incident in Mallow this week.

The arrests were made when detectives from Mallow Garda Station carried out an investigation and executed a search warrant, with the assistance of the Armed Support Unit, yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

During the course of the search, gardaí also seized a number of offensive weapons.

Both males were detained at Mallow Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The incident occurred at approximately 12.30pm on Monday afternoon when two men exited a car and caused damage to another car. Gardaí attended the scene and carried out a patrol of the area but no arrests were made at the time.

Meanwhile, gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses in relation to a serious assault that occurred in North Cork on 15 September.

The assault occurred as a woman in her 20s was walking between Buttevant and Liscarroll when the driver of a car stopped and spoke to her.

The driver proceeded to assault the woman before fleeing the scene. The woman was brought to CUH and has since been discharged.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was traveling the R522 Buttevant to Liscarroll Road between 6.30-9pm on that day, particularly road users with dash cam footage, to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022-31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or any garda station.
