The Grief are releasing a new record soon.

Doomed and loving it

Did you know that Cork has a thriving metal scene? Well it does, and local doom metal group The Grief just added their new single 'To Hew in Wrath' to the machine.

From their forthcoming five track EP ‘Descent’, the new digital single is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, BandCamp and all other common streaming platforms.

Formed in 2016, the five-piece group has spent recent years focusing on writing and recording material and now, with live performances still impossible due to Covid-19, they are ready to unleash their sound to the world on a digital platform.

Earlier in the year The Grief release their first EP ‘Ascent’ featuring hard-hitting single ‘A New Dawn’. The new single follows in a similar vein with Stephan Quinn’s haunting, Sabbathesque vocals taking more of a centre stage.

The Grief is somewhat of a local supergroup featuring members from Leeside metal bands Corr Mhóna, For Ruin and Soothsayer. The band’s members are Kieran O'Leary on bass, Paul Quinn on guitars, vocalist Stephen Quinn, John Murphy also on guitars, and newest member Con Doyle on drums.

The future is bright (or dark) for this band and you can expect to hear them doing their thing in one of Cork’s many music venues as soon as restrictions allow.
