Taking baby steps to success

Looking for a special gift for a mum to be? Well, Little Lambs Nursery Shop & Baby Gifts, based in Fermoy, is just the ticket!

The store opened its doors two years ago and, despite the challenges faced by all retailers at this time, is gradually growing as fast as its first clientele.

Imelda and her husband, Lee, rebranded and revitalised the existing shop which her parents ran for 20 years, prior to their retirement in 2018.

We caught up with Imelda O’Donnell on how things have progressed for the business:

“We’re very much a ‘mom and pop’ shop and that is very important to us. We deal with a lot of expecting parents who are often going through their first baby adventure and this can sometimes be daunting, so we like to think we add that little extra in terms of customer service.”

Imelda continued: “We’re gradually building a loyal customer base and it’s lovely because some of the mums especially keep in touch and send us photos and updates on how baby is doing.

“It has clearly been a challenging year for all retailers but in keeping this ethos, we’re gradually building something we hope will be around for a long time. And after all, babies are probably the cutest reminder that the world goes on!”

“We’ve also just launched our new ecommerce website, having received great support from Joan Kelleher and the team at the North/West Cork Enterprise Office, via their Trading Online Voucher Scheme.

“And with Covid unfortunately still very much a part of everyone’s lives, this will ensure we can continue to spread our wings and open us up to the rest of the country,” concluded Imelda.
