PPE Heroes to the rescue

The arrival of the pandemic resulted in an entire new direction for a business that usually works with schools and youth organisations.

Declan Lowe and Nick Lucid are co-owners of DigiWiz, and work with education organisations throughout Ireland and the UK. However, the arrival of Covid-19 dramatically altered this sector, so Declan and Nick wanted to find other ways of helping. With that, PPE Heroes was born. “The plan was to try something to help out during this pandemic while also bringing in some very important capital to keep our heads above water,” said Declan.

Nick continued: “We started by selling large quantities of masks to nursing homes and then many companies started to sell masks, so it was getting far too competitive. Again, we tried to think ahead and look at what will be needed as soon as services and businesses.”

This is where the plan was devised to start sourcing and selling fogging machines, said Nick.

“They became so popular that we had to start bringing them in large amounts to meet the demand, we even had to hire a logistics company to keep things running smoothly. We then opened a place in the UK and took on about ten staff.”

PPE Heroes has since added hand gels, dispenser machines and recently acquired a contract to start selling Covid-19 tests to the public.

Declan continued: “We are delighted we are able to offer such great products and the feedback we are getting is incredible. The fogging machines really do save businesses a huge amount of time and money and they offer peace of mind to staff and customers that they are in a premises that has been disinfected. It’s great a business or service can fog a room in less than a minute and reuse that room again a minute later, it really gives them back the control to disinfect the area themselves.”
