Time to dust off the wardrobes for spring!

Well, it was another week of shocking weather. I felt I would never leave the house and exercise outside again so the merest glimpse of sunshine this week has me relegating my winter coat to the back of the wardrobe and donning some of my spring clothes.

Perhaps I’m being a fraction too hasty, but I am needing a little style shake up badly! So, while I might be a tad chilly for a while, I’m more than ready to take the hit.

I love the change of a season as it means I get to go through my wardrobe and rediscover items that I haven’t worn in ages and style them up with a fresh eye. After months spent wearing joggers, tracksuits and general casual bits and pieces, I have started to pull out my dresses and started wearing them again. I wore a floral dress during the day for the first time in ages and let me tell you it felt amazing. Just styled with an ankle boot, it’s a simple look but I felt so dressed up.

I’m also getting my skirt-wearing mojo back again and a printed midi skirt can be as comfortable as your joggers when styled with a sweatshirt, leather jacket and some trainers.

I’m also extremely excited to get back to wearing jumpsuits and dungarees which I didn’t get to wear much during the winter months, so I’ll definitely be styling them up for the new season.

I love a dressed down jumpsuit look and they are great for layering too. I’ll be popping on a printed roll neck underneath for some added colour and warmth and wearing with my white boots and a trench for now.

I will also be rocking some dungarees this spring which feels like I’m catching up with an old friend. I used to wear them all the time but more so in the warmer months as I personally don’t like layering them with knitwear. Instead, my ideal outfit is a pair of loose fit denim dungarees I got in Gap years ago styled with a cute white blouse and worn with some leopard print flats.

I’ll finish off the look with lots of layered gold jewellery. It really is one of my favourite outfits to wear, with a khaki military jacket thrown over the top.

While the thought of getting back into jeans might fill us with dread, I’m kind of looking forward to putting together some lighter denim looks. I love a straight leg jean worn with a funky flat and a t-shirt and blazer combination. A blazer just instantly makes an outfit look put together but is so easy to wear.

Look out for structured silhouettes but with cosy, stretchy jogger material for a cool smart casual feel that will help get us back into the vibe of ordinary clothes again!

I don’t know about you but I am absolutely craving wearing a shoe without socks again and I’ve picked up a couple of cool pairs of flats in the sales recently that will go perfectly with this style, but I don’t think we are quite at the bare foot stage yet.

I’ve already started updating my accessories and have said goodbye to my chunky wool scarves which have been replaced with some silky lighter styles. It’s worth checking out some YouTube videos on different ways to tie them as it can totally change up your look.

I’ve taken to wearing a red bandana tied snugly round the neck with a striped tee and pretending I’m sitting in a café in Paris. One can but dream!
