Bring the salon to your home

High-tech beauty tools used to only be found in the dermatologist’s office, skin clinic or beauty salon. But over the last few months, face and body devices have become more accessible and effective. Covid has seen us all change our beauty habits and perhaps encouraged us to be more assertive in our choices.

Sometimes, though, logging online can be result in an information overload causing us to question not only our routine but also our sanity at times.

Foreo - UFO

The revolutionary, multi-tasking skincare device UFO 2 has given the ‘at-home facial’ a major upgrade in 2021 with an incredibly powerful and personalised facial treatment from the comfort of your own home.

With T-Sonic facial massaging, full-spectrum LED light therapy, upgraded tech, faster heating and cooling and optimised app-led treatments, UFO 2 takes skincare infusion and at-home power-masking to the next level.

Its hyper-infusion technology drives ingredients deeper into the skin to get nutrients down where they work best - below the surface. Take your pamper session one step further by applying your favourite skincare products (serums, oils, masks, and moisturisers) with the device's hygienic, non-porous plate to further infuse when paired with soothing cryo-therapy and T-Sonic pulsations for gentle massage and better absorption.

Fit for all skin tones, types, and ages, UFO 2 will help you target specific skin conditions and boost its radiance.

Pricing: UFO - €289 and UFO Mini - €179.

Dermaplaning

Searching for the secret to baby-smooth skin? Look no further! The Global dermaplaning tool is a fine blade that gently removes peach buzz and dead skin to reveal brighter, softer skin. Do not forget to replace the blade often to avoid a dull exfoliation. The Global Beauty pack luckily has two. While the process of dermaplaning is extremely easy, it is especially important to ensure you prep and pamper the skin both before and after treatments.

Step 1 –Ensure the skin is freshly clean, dry, and free from makeup and oils. The dryer the skin, the more dead cells and peach fuzz will be removed.

Step 2 –Using your dominant hand, hold the Dermaplaning tool at a 45-degree angle and work in small strokes going downwards, while the other hand holds the skin taut, which is extremely important to ensure the skin does not drag and there are no accidents with the tool. Continue at the cheekbone until the enter cheek and jaw area is complete, and then move across the chin and forehead areas, making sure to avoid the eyelids, eyebrows, hairlines, sides of the nose and lips, and ensure you do not go over any of the areas more than once.

Step 3 –Once you have finished dermaplaning the skin, make sure to slather the area with your favourite moisturisers and serums, or apply a nutrient-rich facemask, so as your skin can absorb all the goodness. Available now from globalbeauty.ie

Cryo Globes

These glam-approved stainless-steel globes by Corinna Tolan are perfect for reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and perking up the skin. I love the feel of them on my skin post shower as I do feel that warmer water tends to make my skin blotchy. I am also a fan of having them as part of a self-care routine before bed to help massage my serums and oils into my skin.

They work also for minor burns as I discovered recently with an exploding chicken kiev. They are portable too so you can pop them in your handbag if you need them during the day or for when we can all eventually holiday.

Pro tip: stick them in the freezer overnight to de-puff and contour your face in the morning. They work well with hot flushes and atopic skin rashes also. Available from monicatolan.com.
