This year’s Fastnet Film Festival will be held online.

Film festival goes online

One of Cork’s favourite festivals will go online this summer.

Organisers of the Fastnet Film Festival in Schull confirmed this week that the 2021 festival will go online from 26-30 May.

300 short films will be available to view from the comfort of your home, some shot during lockdown and in isolation. The lineup will also include pitches for the Puttnam Award, screenings of the shortlisted films, and winners who will share in the total prize fund of €45,000 will be announced among other events.

A spokesperson for the festival said: "As with 2020, most events this year are being forced online and the future seems unclear as to when they may return but technology is providing an excellent alternative.

“We are delighted to bring the Festival to a worldwide discerning audience and most importantly all events will be free of charge.”
