Absolunet certain of Cork’s potential
Another major international company has chosen to open their European office in Cork. Absolunet, a professional services firm that has helped some of North America's most iconic brands with their digital transformations, ecommerce and digital revenue growth is to open a European office here.
They currently employ 275 people in five cities including Montreal, Toronto and Sainte-Thérèse in Quebec, Kansas City and now Cork. The European office is in the Cube Building on Monahan Road although all staff are working remotely at the moment.
It’s unclear as yet exactly how many jobs will be created although Absolunet CEO Charles Desjardins did say that while it’s hard to say how many jobs will be created, “what we know for sure is that Cork will serve as our main point of operations for Europe and we are currently setting up recruitment operations to bring our European team up to 10 people by this time next year”.
The move comes as Absolunet continues to experience growth internationally, with multinational clients representing more than 30 per cent of the firm's client base.
“As our clients and client list continue to grow and scale through digital, so too does the demand for us to scale along with them, including into Europe and the UK,” said Desjardins.
“In this context, Cork and Ireland seem like a perfect fit for Absolunet's culture as well as our plans to expand our European footprint.”
Absolunet has become a leading digital transformation and ecommerce consulting firm.
With over 25 in-house practices, Absolunet provides consulting and implementation across three main areas of expertise: strategy and consulting, systems and infrastructure and digital operations and people.
“Our agile approach to 'fast-forwarding digital maturity' has paid off for clients, and our expansion into Europe has been the object of an ongoing discussion with our partners, who have been a key element of our growth. Our mastery of multiple languages, PIM, change management and proven track record has led to sustained growth over the past few years,” added Desjardins.
“Our European expansion was on our 2022 or 2023 roadmap, but the pandemic accelerated many of our clients’ digital transformations and they insist that we grow to serve them as they bring their transformation to their operations in Ireland and throughout Europe. We are at least one year ahead of plan,” he said.
Absolunet's European activities will be led by Chandan Raj, Senior Program Director. Previously Raj led Global Digital IT Delivery at Johnson Controls and managed Cork University Business School's digital transformation.
“Absolunet's methodology and approach can help large organizations accelerate digital initiatives and become more agile in the process,” said Raj, who started his career as a software engineering analyst.
“This approach has helped our clients accelerate hundreds of millions in revenue and bridge the digital gap to what their users, units and customers expect from them.
