Playing the waiting game

There’s a sense of déjà vu to this. We’ve had to postpone our wedding again.

20 June 2020 never happened, 1 May 2021 won’t happen and now we wait until March 2022 to have our big day - third time's a charm!

Here’s hoping all will be back to normal by then, that we can have 170 at our wedding without the fear of the Covid-19 cloud hanging over us, and that the only cloud we need to worry about is a grey one.

While couples play the waiting game, so too is the wedding industry. From hotels to hairdressers and florists to photographers, a lot of people’s livelihoods have been affected because two people can’t have the wedding they’ve dreamed of.

With that in mind, this feature is a nod to the wedding industry and its ability to bounce back from this.

We know it’s been tough, but brides will be back getting emotional as they pick the perfect dress in bridal boutiques, grooms will be back seeing themselves as models in their new suits, bridesmaids will once again be cringing at the possible dress options and couples will be indecisive about colours and themes. Not to mention brides’ and grooms’ mothers making sure they aren’t in similar outfits and if you’re getting married in a Catholic church, making sure the songs you’ve picked are okay with the Pope!

We can’t wait to hear that bell ringing at a wedding reception telling us food is imminent in our lovely hotels across the country and it will happen.

Whether it’s a big day out or you’re having a more intimate wedding, it will still be very special and we hope this feature gives you some inspiration.

Hold firm and stay safe,
