Pretty Happy’s ‘Sea Sea Sea’ is their latest single.

Three’s a happy number

After enjoying a meaty slice of success with their previous single ‘Salami’, Cork art-punk trio Pretty Happy are back with a salty new track set to drop later this month.

The new single ‘Sea Sea Sea’ is the latest offering from the Leeside group ahead of the release of their new EP later this year.

The tune shows a different side to the group – a side well capable of telling a story through their use of absurdist lyrics and idiosyncratic melodies.

From the horse’s mouth, the track is a deep dive into the “choppy waters” of queer identity and gender stereotyping.

Pretty Happy take influence from bands such as Pixies, Talking Heads and Sonic Youth, forming a rock sound that is one part slick rock band, one part unhinged punk and one part avant-garde theatre.

Recently band members Abbey Blake (guitar), Arann Blake (vocals, bass guitar) and Andy Killian (drums) have established themselves as an exciting act on the Irish music scene. Their last single ‘Salami’ enjoyed a great reception featuring on BBC Introducing, BBC6, KEXP in Seattle and ‘Track of the Week’ on 2FM.

After debuting at Spilt Milk Festival in Sligo the video new track ‘Sea Sea Sea’ was a finalist for Pinewood Studio’s Lift Off First Time Film Makers Festival in UK.

‘Sea Sea Sea’ comes out on 23 April with the group’s EP to be announced later this year.
