‘Mary and Me’ will return to Cork reimagined for digital presentation from 5-13 June at the Everyman.

Everyman adds more shows

First on the list is ‘Boland: Journey of a Poet’, a new theatrical production exploring the mind and imagination of one of Ireland's great poets, Eavan Boland. Enjoying its world premiere, the production examines Boland's relationships with family, poetry, memory, womanhood, and national identity.

The production will be available via on-demand video stream from 27 April-2 May and will also feature Irish artist Debbie Chapman live on stage who will create a piece of art in response to the show.

On 7 May, Behind the Curtain: Lisa Hannigan Live from The Everyman will be streamed live and direct from the theatre thanks to a collaboration between The Everyman and Islander.

On 20 May, there will be a live audio stream of ‘ART’ by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, directed by Éadaoin O'Donoghue and presented by The Everyman. The play depicts three friends quarrelling over a work of modern art – in effect, a blank canvas – exposing just how fragile friendship can be.

Then, award-winning and critically acclaimed show ‘Mary and Me’ will return to Cork reimagined for digital presentation from 5-13 June.

Written and performed by Irene Kelleher, and directed by Belinda Wild, the production tells the true story of a teenaged girl who begins a series of conversations with a statue of the Virgin Mary at a grotto.

“This is my final time performing the play, so it was extra special for me. I am delighted and honoured to be giving it it's swansong through The Everyman,” said Irene.

Artistic Director at The Everyman Sophie Motley added: “Irene Kelleher is an important local writer, and after its successful tours, her excellent piece ‘Mary and Me’ is now being shared with a digital audience for the very first time, filmed on location and in The Everyman.”
