Lombardstown crash victim named

A man in his 40s who died on Tuesday after he crashed his car on the N72 at Lombardstown near Mallow was named locally as Cornelius O’Donovan yesterday.

Mr O’Donovan is believed to be from Newmarket.

Gardaí attended the scene of the single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at 3.25pm. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Forensic collision investigators conducted a technical examination of the scene following the accident.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage and were travelling in the area at this time to make this footage available to gardaí.
