Cork Pride radio pops up

Listen up, a Cork Pride radio station has been launched!

The digital station called Cork Pride Radio (CPR) will run for the three weeks of July that lead up to and the week of Cork Pride itself, Saturday 24 July-Sunday 1 August.

The pop up station is a collaboration between Cork’s RedFM & the Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival.

RedFM has partnered with Cork Pride since 2013 and CPR will run on RedFM’s digital sister station Red Hot.

RedFM Programme Manager Dave Macardle said: “We’re absolutely bursting with pride to be able to deliver this for our good friends at Cork Pride. Being involved with this festival brings us so much fun and happiness ever year and long may it continue. Happy Pride!”

RedFM DJ and Cork Pride Radio musical consultant Stevie G said: “We have all had a long history DJing at Cork Pride parties, and it's great fun trying to recreate some of that buzz on air with Cork Pride Radio. I can't wait to get going and I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful Cork Pride.”

Every year, the Cork Pride team work hard behind the scenes to deliver outstanding events and RedFM's involvement allows the event to reach a much wider audience across Cork and beyond. The theme of this year’s festival is Together Apart.

Cork Pride Chairperson Clive Davis said: “The Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival are delighted to partner with our friends at Cork’s RedFM once again, and are thrilled that this annual partnership has developed into the creation of Cork Pride Radio, our new pop-up radio station, which is a first for a Pride Festival in Ireland.

“On 24 July, the 2021 Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival will burst into life again, although not quite as we usually know it! We've just launched our full line-up of over 20 Cork Pride 2021 events, head on over to our corkpride.com website - we hope you'll be as excited as we are!”
