I'm loving all of the planning

Hello to all you brides and grooms to be.

If you recently got engaged, congratulations and I hope you enjoy organising your wedding as much as I am.

I’m getting married, after two postponements due to Covid-19, in March 2022 and am crossing my fingers that we can have the numbers we want.

I have everything pretty much sorted except for getting my dress chopped and changed a little, candles for the church and other minor bits and pieces. Everything is more or less sorted from the original June 2020 date.

If I can give any advice, make a list of everything that needs to be done, even the less important stuff.

I have my list done out on paper and a copy on my laptop – just in case something happens to either!

The big thing for us was making sure the church and hotel were free on the date we wanted, so my big piece of advice is to get the ceremony and reception venues nailed down as soon as you can. After that, enjoy the organising. I loved researching and picking our colours, music, flowers and everything in between.

Our next big job unfortunately is to prepare for Covid-19 restrictions and cut down on guests.

We have the full 170 (we know some on that won’t go but still have to be asked), which, as I already said, we are hoping for but our next job is to have a list of 100, 50, 25 and then just us and our parents.

I’m hoping by March that the vaccine rollout will have done its job. If it’s the case that we can only allow vaccinated guests at our wedding, we’re okay with that.

I’d guess that 70 per cent of our 170 guestlist are already fully vaccinated.

For now, I hope you enjoy this wedding feature and get some inspiration for you big day!

Bye for now,

Niamh Áine
