A Ray of sunshine

I really can’t believe this year is nearly over. It has just passed by in a blur and I’m over here still processing 2019!

Anyway, even though the world is in an absolute state, it has been lovely to see lots of people I know and local and national designers launching new businesses and creating amazing products that are quite lovely and do nothing to help my bank balance.

One such person is the fabulous Maeve Barry of blondethestore.com, an Irish jewellery and homewares site that I’ve featured here before and is my first port of call when looking for an interesting piece of jewellery or a cool gift for a pal.

Maeve also has an Irish jewellery brand called Eve Ray which has just launched some new pieces inspired by art, Ireland and childhood.

The label, which launched in 2020 with a small collection of earrings, has recently launched some fabulous new pieces with a stunning shoot showcasing jewellery that is perfect for everyone.

The new costume jewellery by Eve Ray includes a fresh take on her Joan Miro inspired collection as well as new pieces inspired by Ireland and her childhood in Kerry, with a contemporary take on traditional Irish symbols like the four leaf clover and the claddagh design.

Sold exclusively on blondethestore.com, Eve Ray jewellery is designed and made in Ireland by Maeve herself. Maeve works with mirrored perspex and clay, and sources her material in Ireland and the UK.

With pieces to suit all people and ages, the jewellery is made to add a bold splash of colour and fun to your wardrobe.

She said: “It’s a dream come to true to launch my own designs. Made easier and more organic by the fact that I run blondethestore.com, inspired by all the designers I curate on the website.

“The pieces, inspired by and named after the distorted shapes and work of Joan Miro and memories from my childhood, are meant to inject fun and colour into people's lives. Which I definitely think we all need right now. I also love the idea of my pieces being worn by everybody at any age.”

One of my favourite pieces is the Down to the Tree, a four leaf clover pendant in mirror gold with a glitter black back so the charm is reversible and detachable using vintage inspired charm hooks.

Each piece comes with a gold plated link necklace that also looks great layered with other pieces, so you are getting so many different options with this one piece. For the earring lovers The garden 1925 pieces make fantastic gifts that anyone would love to receive.

While they are truly a statement in size and colour, the perspex makes them light enough and totally wearable. Style them with simple knitwear or tees and let the earrings take centre stage or go full our maximalist and layer with a look that features colour and print.

The Bess donkey pendent which comes in two colour options shows the fun side of the label and is inspired by her childhood and her uncle’s donkey!

I mean were you even a child in the ‘80s if you didn’t have an uncle with a donkey?
